2008 is an election year and many churches will be distracted from their focus on the city of God, to the governments of men...
Sound like your church? It sounds like mine. This week's White Horse Inn is required listening.

"Let the church be the church. Let the state be the state." Bravo, bravo, gentlemen. The mix of the two has been quite lethal. I've always felt I was in the minority in the belief that the separation of church and state is a good thing, a vital thing.
Also, the line about the preference of having a pagan who knows justice/how to govern vs. a Christian who does not, well, there you go. Well said. The "confusion of kingdoms" has really eroded the Church, the Body. So many have "the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other."
We are to be of one mind, one body for the specific missions the Lord calls us-"the ministry of Word and sacrament." Let's keep that in mind as we vote.
Amen, brother! I think one way the confusion manifests itself is in those ubiquitous "voter guides" that appear the Sunday before an election. They were distributed at our church on Sunday and my parents church too (you know the one). I wouldn't be surprised if you got them at your's too!
I guess that's the one thing that unites the evangelical churches in this city. But try to get united action on evangelism or mercy ministry? FUGGEDABOUTIT!
